Moncton Makeup Artist | Current Product Loves |The Best for Winter

The Cold weather is here..and our skin knows it. #OHCANADA! I'm already needing to add a little more moisturizer then I was just 2 months ago! Here are a few favorite product picks to keep skin healthy in the harsh winter months.

#1. Avene Restorative Skin Cream, 40 ml. $28.00 CDN

I started using this product while working on set this past September & October on actors. You may be thinking ..it wasn't that cold in September. Well..when you are on a wharf..at 2:00 am ..in rural NB.. it's cold.
This cream was so great for wind burn, sun burn and freezing temperatures. I will be picking some up for my own personal makeup bag ASAP!

#2. Jack Black's Intensive Therapy Lip Balm, 7g. $8.50 CDN

...How many times can a girl blog about lip balm? So many times. #lipbalmjunkie  Unlike the rest of your skin, the tissue in your lips has no oil glands, meaning; the only moisture it gets is the H2O that is naturally in the skin and the only way that H2O won't evaporate is applying an oil based lip balm (and exfoliating your lips.) Stock up now!

#3 Bastarache Beauty's Mint Exfoliating Face Polish, 120 ml. $47.00 CDN
There is a reason that although 95% percent of my line is lip products, I carry a random skin care item. It is just that important- and I want all my clients to be exfoliating their skin.
Often it's harsh weather (or extreme changes in temperature) our skin cells cannot rejuvenate as fast as they are getting damaged. (this slows down more as we age... #sadpoutyface) A good exfolaitor helps manually speed up the process which helps skin:
  1. Feel more soft and supple
  2.  Because it is more soft, supple and healthy
  3. Reveal the young new skin cells buried underneath the dead and damaged skin

#4. Spectrum Organic Coconut Oil, 414 ml. $11.29 CDN

Literally, next to my beautiful perfume bottle & designer candle is a slightly hideous jar of coconut oil ( I really should depot it into something pretty.) But it is just that good. I don't often wear makeup around the house, so I regularly slather this on to my face, specifically, the cheek and under eye area. Then I rub the left overs into my hands and cuticles...up my arms..and pretty much over any other exposed skin.
If you aren't using coconut oil - start. It's only about $10.00, leave half in your kitchen, take the other half to your vanity (both literally and figuratively.)

#5. MIYU, HYDRATE ME BEAUTY TEA, 40g. $16.00 CDN

Does it actually make your prettier? Or do you just feel more prettier drinking something with "A light and fruity blend of green rooibos, goji berries, rose petals and snow pear essence?" Honestly, I don't know -but I'll take what I can get. Either way, it's not going to hurt and here are a few reasons why you should drink more tea this winter:
  1. It'll make you warm and fuzzy on the inside
  2. Dehydration is a major winter issue, getting your h2o consumption works from tea when it's like this - non-caffeinated and no sugar
  3. It's loaded with anti-oxidants - which we know for sure is a good thing for you!

#6. Better Beard Co. Beard Oil, 30 ml. $25.00 CDN

If any of you have a bearded gentleman like I do, you will know how their beards, and the skin under them, can get itchy and rough, especially in the winter. My husband has three of these beard oils; Naked , Renaissance Man and Lumberjack - and we both love them (on him - I don't use them on my beard.) Lumberjack is my favorite but will be picking up the After Eight to give it a try. I think they make him smell better and help keep his face smooth and he likes manly dose of mosisturizer to his skin.
